JOY Pillow
I recently had the chance to do some sewing with my fellow Michael Miller designer, Tamara Kate's fabric from her new JOY collection and I'm reminded once again of how talented an artist she is! Just look at these beauties...
In fact, they're all so gorgeous it was hard to narrow down what I wanted to make first, but since I've been spending a lot of time lately sitting and waiting I thought it might be a nice opportunity to do some epp handsewing.
I also knew I wanted to make something I would see everyday so I decided on a new throw pillow for the living room using large hexagons to really showcase the prints. And since I've been on a blue and green kick lately I opted for a focused color palette of springy greens and teals. (That, and emma's already claimed the pinks and yellows for me to make something for her next!)
Once I finished though, I couldn't decide where to put it. These colors and prints looked good every room and every place I put this pillow! The obvious choice was the living room sofa...
But then I thought it looked great on this white chair...
Or even on the hearth, a popular spot when people gather!
It even looks right at home in my front sitting room/office against my gray futon. I haven't found a place yet that it doesn't look great!
Now if I can just convince emma that it's not hers!
I can't wait to cut into the rest of these fabrics, the pinks and yellows especially. I pulled up photos I had taken of Tamara's Quilt Market booth last fall where we had adjoining booths and it's hard not to be inspired by all the lovelies she had on display.
These colorful fabric buckets are fun and functional, and those dimensional butterflies are pretty amazing!
This quilt!!!
I hope you're as inspired as I am to make all the things with this stunning collection!
